PIAZZA GHIBERTI - A URBAN METAMORPHOSIS - contest - 2005

Design Contest for the urban resettlement of Ghilbert’s Square in Florence. 1st prize. The urban composition preserves an open space as a central and significant element: the square doesn’t live by itself but needs to be "created" by one or more perspective basis, which constitutes the true generator system of open space. At the heart of it, the great shelter, as a bivalent space suspended between the universities and the neighborhood, confirms the existence of the portal and acts like a filter, a driving director, a luminous signal during the night. Design Group: Guido Ferrara, Alberto Breschi, Barbara Lami, Nicola Ferrara, Eva Parigi, Giovanni Todesca, Matteo Zetti.
